There’s a land unseen by our mortal eyes, And its joys no tongue can tell;
Where in robes of white, in its vales of light, We shall meet, and forever dwell.
O Eden, dear Eden, Home bright and fair,
Soon our bark will land on thy golden stand, And our rest will be glorious there.

When the going gets tough...

As the saying goes, "the tough get going." Whatever that means, I'm not too sure. But then again, if the tough get going, where do the not-so-tough go? Now that's a question!

Before I left for the recce trip to Philippines, and after I decided to take up the YEP, I was asked, "Are you sure it's God's will for you?" Good question! If I'm not sure if it was God's will, the not-so-tough me would not get going when the going got tough. I'd be likely to give up. But if I were certain that it was God's will, I'd be assured of His presence and help and it would keep me through all the tough times.

Taking up the YEP made me very nervous at first, but I believed that the Lord wanted me to do it, and I was certain that He would not put me through more than what I can bear. And if I couldn't bear the responsibilities, He wouldn't let me take it up. If you're sure that God only allows things to happen to you that you can bear, you would not give up so easily because what is happening to you is something you can bear! It's not something that you think you can or cannot bear, but something God knows you can, and therefore you can.

So when the going gets tough, even if you're not-so-tough (like me), remember that God causes all things to work for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Do you love God? Are you walking in His will? If you are, you can, by faith, withstand the trial and come forth as gold.

I'm going to the Philippines next Thursday for a recce trip for the Youth Expedition Project at the end of this year. Thank the Lord for arranging for us to stay at SMC centre with the other GLCCians who are there for an evangelistic crusade. Need a lot of wisdom in the planning of this expedition. Covet your prayers :)
